Far out, technology these days is so needy... "I need battery", "re-charge me", "beep beep beep". Its somewhat ridiculous that a piece of plastic and metal can make you completely change whatever you were doing (eg. sleeping), just to satisfy its own needs! I mean, sure - its because some human has programmed it to do that... and its for our own "safety" sometimes... but surely it shouldn't rule our lives so!
Moral of the story #1 - always have spare batteries on-hand for the smoke detector (and know how to change them!)
Moral of the story #2 - put the phone back on the hook when you're finished
