My Utopian Life

Yesterday, for some, may have been a mildly miserable day weather-wise. It was pretty much overcast for most of the day, and a bit of drizzle later in the day, and wind picked up a little too. But it was a fantastic day for going out to the park and flying a kite.

What a random thing to do, and who has kite's just lying around for this kinda thing anyway??

Well - I cleaned out my wardrobe yesterday (to paint the inside, which I was later told was as dumb as painting the inside of a drawer... but i'll consider that further later), to find an old kite, still good in its little storage bag, and so decided it would be a perfect opportunity to go fly said kite. So after a yummy lunch (so much aioli *mmm*) at the Eatinghouse with Ron, and then freshly baked banana cake and tea at Tanja's house on her verandah, we picked up Bojan from church, and the 4 of us went to Carrs Park and flew the kite on the beach.

Its not a particularly fancy kite, or even hard to use (just one string), but it was so beautiful, and relaxing and just plain fun. Tanja commented that it was so utopian, and I quite agree. Its something that you don't get the opportunity to do regularly, and its one of those beautiful simple pleasures in life, that give much joy with very little effort required. Fantastic stuff!

I hope to be able to do it more, and if you want to enjoy a simple pleasure one time, just let me know, we'll find a park on an ordinarily average day and make it a moment to remember.
